Every morning I crawl out of bed, stumble down the stairs, and check the NHL Standings. It's kind of comical actually, no bathroom break, no trip to the coffee pot, not even a glance at the cereal bowl that has been laid out for me by my wife. I log right on and check to see where my team stands among hockey's elite. ON TOP. That has been the case for several weeks now, shifting spots every now and then with the Sharks or the Penguins depending on who played the night before. That's my bread and butter, a pop-tart, a bowl of whole grain cereal. That's what gets me going; the standings.
After a few weeks of begging and pleading Adam Foote, I finally talked the captain into letting us go over to his new home to show us his hockey rink. He's building one in his backyard for his kids. A childhood dream of his. Adam is first class. He is one of the most humble people I've ever met, so allowing our cameras to come and spend the afternoon with him at the rink was as absolute gift. It was amazing. The details that are included, the set-up, the lights, and a bell that the younger Foote's ring to signal the neighborhood....that hockey is in session! It was a treat. Much love to Mr. Foote for the access. You can watch that feature on this week's All Access Show.
So for now, lets all continue to soak it up, "the show" the boys are putting on right now for us. With so much character and heart, this team has all the makings of being something special. Just 19 games into the season, and the "Burgandy and Blue" are playing some great hockey. If your anything like me, here's some advice...skip the Fruit Loops, and go straight to the standings.
